About HCIEF

The 1199SEIU Home Care Industry Education Fund (HCIEF) has three goals: to provide quality training and education, meet the changing and emerging needs of the home care industry, and promote growth and empowerment in the workplace. We are jointly managed by a board of union representatives and home care employers and serve tens of thousands of home care workers in New York City and surrounding counties annually.

The HCIEF has been a part of the 1199SEIU Funds since 1992. The Funds are among the strongest and largest labor-management funds in the nation, providing a range of comprehensive benefits to working and retired healthcare industry workers and their families. 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East is the largest healthcare union in the United States, representing more than 400,000 workers in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, pharmacies and home care agencies throughout New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Florida and Washington, DC. The Union’s mission is to achieve quality, affordable healthcare for all, and to be the strongest voice for those who provide that care.

The 1199SEIU Home Care Industry Education Fund is a charitable, educational organization, tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
