The homecare workforce requires skills and competencies to maintain and improve client care. The Home Care Skills Enhancement Program provides relevant training for home care workers to update and improve the skills necessary to provide the best quality care for their clients.
For example, home care workers communicate with clients, supervisors, service providers and family members on a daily basis. In addition to a very robust list of course offerings, we offer several workshops that focus on communication skills, such as Intergenerational Communication and Effective Interpersonal Skills. We also are aware that clients are more likely to leave a clinic or healthcare appointment without adequate discharge instructions and are less likely to maintain continuity of care, leaving them at disproportionate risk for poor health outcomes. These and other limitations could contribute to unnecessary costs and inadequate preventive care practices that result in adverse health outcomes and inefficiencies in the healthcare system.
By delivering innovative solutions through our Skills Enhancement Workshops, we support home care workers and employers with the skills and tools necessary to facilitate community engagement and elevate the quality of client care.
